Potluck to Honor BHS Member and Neighbor Cristian Salyer

We are deeply saddened to share that Beacon Hill Solidarity member, Cristian Salyer was killed in a traffic accident while biking this week. He had been contributing a lot of work to making our 6/16 potluck happen and you may have previously seen him at other BHS events - including frequently as our charismatic MC.

We would like to invite you all to come honor Cristian's life and memory with us tonight - whether you knew him as a friend, teacher, neighbor, musician or in any other walk of life. We'll hold a bonfire and share memories. Please bring what you can: food to share, flowers, pictures of Cristian, candles, and a blanket or extra chair if needed.

Please see the previous message below for the potluck details. We will still have an optional tenants rights workshop but it will be separate from our collective grieving space.

June Beacon Hill Community Potluck on Tuesday 6/16.

Join us to share food and enjoy the summer outside at the abundant Beacon Hill Food Forest. We are excited to host Puget Sound Tenants Union for a workshop on Tenants Rights for renters who may be experiencing problems with their landlord and are curious about how to leverage their own power. The workshop is optional and we will otherwise be eating food together and sharing in the beautiful garden space in our neighborhood.

When: Tuesday 6/16, 6:00PM-9:00pm

Where: Beacon Food Forest, located in Jefferson Park off South Dakota Street. We'll be meeting at the gathering space at the southeast end of the food forest (close to the parking lot). What to bring: A dish to share, chairs and blankets for sitting, your neighbors and especially fellow tenants if you're having problems with your landlord/housing situation Access notes: There's a parking lot on S Dakota; we also recommend walking, biking, or taking the bus (50, 60, and 107 stop right by the Food Forest on 15th). There is a gravel path to access the gathering space. This is an outdoor event! We'll have some shelter present in case of rain, but dress accordingly.
